The average driver fills up around four times a month. A few cents a litre and a few smarter habits do not sound like much on a single visit, but across a year they quietly add up to a tank or two of free fuel. None of this asks you to buy anything or change your car. It is just paying attention in the right places.
Compare before you fill, do not just pick the nearest
Prices swing by 15 to 20 cents a litre between stations on the same street. The pump you always use out of habit is rarely the cheapest. Ten seconds checking the options nearby is the single highest-return habit on this list.

Count the detour, not just the price
A station a few kilometres away at a lower price can cost you more once you count the fuel you burn getting there. Before you drive across town for a bargain, weigh the saving against the distance. This is exactly the math Fillz runs for you, flagging the station that genuinely pays off.
Add the discounts you already have
If you carry a loyalty card or a voucher for a brand, add it once in Settings. From then on Fillz folds that discount into your real cost, so the station that pays off and the saving it shows already reflect what you actually pay, not just the pump price. It never touches the "Cheapest" list, which stays the honest market price.
Fill around a quarter tank, not on empty
When you run the tank to the warning light, you take whatever price is in front of you because you have no choice. Filling while you still have a quarter left gives you the freedom to wait for a better station and skips the desperation premium.
Learn your area's price rhythm
Prices often move on a weekly cycle, and stations near motorways or in tourist spots tend to charge more. Once you notice the pattern near you, midweek and away from the fast road, you fill at the low point instead of the peak without any extra effort.
Drive smoothly to burn less
Hard acceleration and late braking are where fuel disappears. Ease onto the throttle, look far ahead so you can coast to slowdowns, and hold a steady speed on the motorway. Calm driving can cut consumption noticeably, and it is free.
Keep your tyres at the right pressure
Under-inflated tyres drag and drink more fuel, on top of wearing out faster and handling worse. Check the pressure once a month against the figure on the door frame or in the manual. It takes two minutes and pays for itself.
Drop the dead weight and roof racks
Everything you carry costs fuel to move, and an empty roof rack is pure aerodynamic drag at speed. Clear out the boot you never unpacked and take the rack off when you are not using it. Less weight and cleaner airflow mean fewer stops at the pump.
Do not pay for premium you do not need
Premium grades are worth it for some engines and pointless for others. Check what your car actually requires in the manual. If it runs happily on the standard grade, the premium pump is just a more expensive way to fill the same tank.
Let Fillz do the comparing
Tips one to three are exactly what Fillz automates: the cheapest stations around you, the one that pays off after the detour, and your own brand discounts folded into the total, for free, in your language.
