Questions, answered honestly
Everything you might wonder about Fillz: where the prices come from, how current they are, live charger availability, your privacy, and what it costs. No fine print.
The basics
Is Fillz free?
Yes, completely. You can browse prices, compare stations and navigate without paying anything or creating an account. An optional one-off purchase removes ads for anyone who wants to support the app.
Do I need to create an account?
No. Everything works without sign-up. Your settings, like language, radius and charging card, live on your device, not on our servers.
What does “worth the detour” mean?
A station a few kilometres away at a lower price can cost you more than the one around the corner once you count the fuel you burn getting there. Fillz runs that math on every result and flags the one that genuinely leaves the most in your pocket.
Can I add my loyalty or brand discounts?
Yes. In Settings you can add the discount you have with a brand: a loyalty card, a few cents a litre, or a fixed voucher per fill. Fillz then counts it into your real cost, so the station that pays off and the saving you see already include what you are actually entitled to pay, not just the pump price. Your discounts only affect "Best pick", never "Cheapest", which stays the plain market price for everyone.
Prices & data
Where do the prices come from?
Three layers. Official national feeds where they exist (DGEG in Portugal, ANP in Brazil, Osservaprezzi in Italy and dozens more). The community where they do not, built from OpenStreetMap plus driver reports and price photos. And official EV networks for charging. Every station shows its source.
How current are the prices?
Each source updates on its own cadence. Official feeds are often daily or intraday, community prices appear the moment a driver reports them, and EV availability is near real time wherever the network provides it. Every station shows when its data was last updated.
A price looks wrong. What can I do?
Report it in two taps. Other drivers can confirm or flag it, so the community keeps everyone honest. Prices are the best information available, but always confirm the final price at the pump or charger.
EV charging
How does EV pricing work?
Charging prices depend on the point operator and on your own supplier or card. Fillz estimates the price using the operator tariff and, if you tell us your supplier or your exact rate per kWh, we show what you would actually pay instead of the walk-up price.
Can I see if a charger is free right now?
Where the official network publishes it, like MOBI.E in Portugal, yes. You see how many connectors are free at each site, refreshed continuously, so you do not drive to a full or out-of-service charger.
Which connectors and speeds do you show?
The common families, including CCS, CHAdeMO and Type 2, along with each point's power in kW, so you can match a charger to your car and see how fast it will charge.
